What people say about working with me…

What Jane offers exists in the interface between mind and body. In my experience this is a much needed but neglected area of expertise and as a professional psychologist I am aware that professionals mostly work in just one area, rather than in that all-important interface. I think this interface is the future. Jane also has a strong background in academic research and this makes her such a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn how to better manage the stress of everyday life no matter your age or ability.”

Lorna Champion Ph.D, Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist

“Calm, positive and encouraging…Dr Jane Hartley is a treasure, she will help.”

— Professor Frank Gunn-Moore, Head of School of Biology, University of St Andrews

“I need to remember that I am the actual adult. I know if I kick off it’s like the ripple effect. I kick off [shout], he [grandson] kicks off, the baby kicks off...and it’s not been like that this week [after doing the course]. I think my neighbours must think I’m away on holiday.”

Melanie, Grandmother and Kinship Carer

As a busy GP I enjoyed using the short de-stressing practice and felt the benefit to the quality of my sleep. This has helped me to manage my stress levels at work.”

Dr. Susie Baxter, GP

“In the past I would think 'if I can just get on top of this next thing then I will have time to take better care of myself/prioritise time for wellbeing', but of course 'that next thing' is always changing and is never done. Now I know that if I make the time for self-care then I’m actually more productive and better able to manage the things I haven’t done. I have a more positive perspective and and my clients feel the benefit of that too!”

— Susan McIntosh, Social Worker

FAQs

Q: “How exactly does this course work?”

The course is entirely self-paced and pre-recorded and you have full access to all content as soon as you sign up.

Q: “I’m busy. Is this going to change my schedule a lot?”

I understand that you’re probably very busy, so I’ve broken the course content into bite-sized steps that you can work through at your own pace.

Q: “How is this course different from other wellbeing-style programmes?”

Most wellbeing programmes focus on either giving information, on mindfulness or on talk therapy. While these are all useful, they don’t embrace the fact that stress is experienced in both the mind and the body. Until you reset the nervous system - which is done most effectively via the combination of body, breath and awareness - you will still experience stress symptoms. The method in this course acknowledges the interrelatedness between mind and body. It’s only by addressing both that you will experience real physical and mental wellbeing.

In addition, most programmes focus on those people who are being cared for. The pioneering method in this course acknowledges the interrelatedness of the caring dynamic. It addresses the wellbeing of the care-givers first which then naturally and positively impacts the quality of care being given.

Q: “How long do I have access to the course for?”

You have unlimited access to the course.

Q: “How much time do I need to invest in this course in order to make it effective?”

The course is approximately 75 mins long. The amount of time you invest in repeating the practices and returning to the content is entirely up to you. I would strongly suggest trying the practice a few times to really feel the benefit.

Q: “I’m not very fit or flexible, I can’t do yoga or meditate. Can I still do the course?”

Yes! The practices and sessions in the course have been specifically designed to be genuinely accessible - no fitness, strength or flexibility is required.

Q: “I have a serious mental health/physical health condition. Can I still do the course?”

Please email me and we’ll discuss whether the course is suitable for you - info@drjanehartley.com

Q: “Do I need any equipment to do the course?”

No equipment is needed other than optional cushions and blankets for comfort during the lying down parts of the course.

Q: “What if I need help during the course?”

If you need support when going through the course, please reach out to me at info@drjanehartley.com. I’d be delighted to help you.
